Camp Program Director
Jen (camp name: Frazzle) has been a Girl Scout since 1980 and began her career at camp at the age of 16. She started working at resident camp during the summers, holding various roles from kitchen assistant to counselor and trip specialist to assistant camp director.
She has served as camp director at Camp Singing Hills (2002-2008), Camp Northwoods (2009), and Camp Elk River (2010-2019). She now serves as the Camp Program Director, overseeing and mentoring camp directors at all of our camp properties. In the non-camp season, Jen plans and manages camp operations, ensuring our camps are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ ages and abilities.
She loves witnessing the countless moments where girls challenging themselves to try new things and gain confidence in themselves. She hopes that at camp, every camper and staff member learns more about who they are and their ability to trust in their decision-making skills, and that they take with them the love of being outdoors.
Camp Director at Camp Lakamaga
Lauren (camp name: Bubbles) has spent every summer since the second grade attending or working at a Girl Scout Camp. She went from attending as a camper to volunteering as a Counselor-in-Training to working as a Counselor and Assistant Camp Director, to serving as a Camp Director. She helped direct Camp Elk River and Camp Singing Hills before taking on leadership of Camp Lakamaga.
During the non-camp season Lauren manages, develops, and implements programming for girls across the council.
Camp Director at Camp Elk River
Emilee (camp name: Ursa, like the constellation) might be new to Girl Scouts River Valleys but is not new to the camping world! She has been a camper, volunteer, staff, and everything in between at several day and resident camps over the last twenty years. Emilee is passionate about inclusion and the way camp helps everyone to be their best, most authentic selves. She loves seeing campers grow in their independence, compassion, and confidence. At camp you’ll might catch her at the waterfront, making some art, or the kitchen whipping up something yummy! ¡Ella habla español!
During the non-camp season Emilee manages, develops, and implements outdoor and STEM programming for Girl Scouts across the council.
Seasonal Camp Director of Camp Singing Hills
Barbara (camp name: Ziwa) joined Girl Scouts as a Daisy and has been going to camp just as long. In 2014, she became part of the summer staff at Camp Elk River as a Counselor and has come back every year since as a Specialist, Waterfront Director, and most recently as Seasonal Camp Director. She is excited for this new opportunity at Singing Hills working with Troops.
When she isn’t at camp, Barbara is a Program Assistant with River Valleys helping out multiple departments.
Her favorite thing about camp is seeing girls’ excitement when they are taking on a new challenge, whether it’s kayaking, sleeping in a tent, or riding a horse for the first time. She loves watching girls build confidence and gain independence throughout their time at camp.
