Camp Northwoods provides coach bussing to and from camp for 6-day and 13-day campers. The bus picks up campers at two different stop locations on Sundays and drops them off at the same locations on Fridays. Troops are responsible for their own transportation to and from troop camp at Camp Northwoods.
Alternative Travel Plans?
If you are not planning to use the bus to camp Northwoods (one or both ways), please contact us so that we can prepare. All campers are assumed to be riding the bus to and from Camp Northwoods unless you let us know otherwise.
Arrive at Stops Early
It is important to arrive early enough to get your camper on the bus and to ensure the bus schedule stays on time. This means you may not see the bus waiting for you when you arrive. The camp staff who will be checking you in may be riding the bus to the stop, so they might not be present when you arrive. Delays may occur from time to time due to traffic congestion and other unforeseen circumstances. Please refer to the online schedule to confirm arrival time. The recorded message at 800-845-0787 will be updated to inform you of any delay of an hour or more. If you are not on time, the bus will leave as scheduled without your camper and you will have to drive to the next stop or all the way to camp.
Getting TO Camp Northwoods
Instructions
Your camper will need to check in with our camp staff before boarding the bus. Please remain with your camper until check in and boarding is complete. Campers should pack a lunch and a full water bottle for the bus ride.
The check-in procedure is as follows:
- Load gear/luggage under the bus.
- Campers are checked in on the attendance roster.
- Verify that your CampDocs forms are complete (should be done two weeks before your camp session).
- Turn in any money or Cookie Credits to use at the camp store.
- Campers will complete a general health check and turn in any medications.
- Let camp staff know who is authorized to pick up your camper in writing.
- Once campers are checked-in and on the bus, they must stay on the bus until they arrive at camp for safety reasons.
- Drop off any pre-written cards & letters you have for the week. Please do not drop off any food to your camper as it attracts bugs and other animals.

The bus arrives at Camp Northwoods around 2:30 pm. If you are late arriving to the bus stop, the bus may leave without your camper and you will have to drive them to the next stop or to Camp Northwoods.
Returning FROM Camp Northwoods
Instructions
Campers can be picked-up by an authorized adult at either of the bus stop locations. Please ensure your camper knows which stop location you plan to use as camp staff do not keep track of this information. Camp will provide a bag lunch for the ride home.
The check-out procedure is as follows:
- Camp staff will ask for a photo ID to verify that you are on the list of people authorized for pick-up. You will need to officially check your camper out with a signature.
- Unload luggage from the bus
- You will also receive the following:
- All medications and any remaining camp store money.
- A letter from your camper’s counselor letting you know about your camper’s time at camp
- A note from the health director if your camper required anything besides basic first aid treatments, if we found any ticks on your camper, or if there are any concerns.

If you are delayed and will be late arriving to the bus stop to pick up your camper, please call Camp Northwoods to let us know at the phone number included in your pre-camp email.

Please review the following bus safety guidelines with your camper or troop.
- Remain seated at all times
- No shouting or yelling while on the bus
- Follow the Girl Scout Promise and Law at all times
